If a person says dairy is OK but freaks out over L-cysteine (made from human hair). Please tell me if this makes sense or not. I think it doesn't. But please confirm.
Is this hypocrisy?
Hi DD; You aren't referring to my answer on the vegan bread question are you%26lt;VBG%26gt;? I don't normally accept products containing dairy and never L-cysteine. Why one over the other? For one thing the IVU considers L-cysteine off limits on a veggie diet while milk and eggs are allowed. I don't usually do clips but here's their answer:
" Some foods have "E" numbers listed in the ingredients, with no mention as to the source of these E numbers. Ones to definitely avoid include:
* 120 - cochineal
* 542 - edible bone phosphate
* 631 - sodium 5'-inosinate
* 901 - beeswax
* 904 - shellac
* 920 - L-cysteine hydrochloride"

Does that eliminate any potential vegetarian hypocrisy?
BTW; In that answer I was 'after' the asker! Check their history to see their previous question asked; I decided that it might be fun to give a Kaayla Daniel style answer and put a little 'fear' into their brain on the topic of why vegan bread is a good idea since they are so condescending towards Subways "Veggie D'lite" %26lt;evil grin%26gt;.

It only needs to make sense to the person consuming it. We don't all fit neatly into a little labeled box. Its all a personal choice-no need to have approval of the masses.

Welcome to the human race; we are all hypocrites in some form or another. But I don't believe in an "all or nothing" world. We are all taking steps along the way to the goals of who we want to be and what we believe in. I am sure you do several hypocritical things... I know I do. If we didn't we wouldn't be humans, or we would be big, fat liars.
:)
For some people, humans are totally different. Most meat eaters will freak out over analogies of "what if someone cut their fingertip off in your pizza; would you pick it out? (when they ask why I don't just pick out the pepperoni)". And they eat rotting flesh like it is their job.
I am personally not concerned about human hair however because people can decide what they do with it. No one is hanging them upside-down with a hook embedded in their side and scalping them alive.
But that's just me.
:)

The first problem is that your assuming it is all or nothing..each person has to make these decisions and as years pass ..those decisions will change as well ... If someone is taking a step in the right direction rather then criticize try to inform them but they will go at their own pace......I wish the world would change tomorrow , but until then I will live my life as I believe and try to put some input... do not drink from the half full glass .... you will never get full..

Hmm... maybe this person is freaked out because L-cysteine comes from humans, then it makes some sense to me. If he/she is freaked out over L-cysteine itself, then it doesn't make sense, because milk has L-cysteine too.
