make constant eye contact when speaking to someone else. We always find ourselves staring at their mouth or hair, a dog crossing the road, a leaf that floated off the top of a tree. Why do we get so uncomfortable with eye contact? Have you ever realised that?

Yeah, I sometimes do when their is a large crowd. Also, it can get too intense if you stare too long. Its said the eyes are the window to the soul. Maybe we're afraid of giving too much of ourselves away, or seeing too much in the other person.

I think that there is a level of "intimacy" when staring into someone's eyes that or we just find it creepy.

this changes across cultures. my guess is in this country it has to do with our christian upbringing and the guilt we were raised on.

Interesting question. I think its because the human mind can get itself so easily preocupied with other things that it really doesnt pay attention to whats in front of it.

No. I always establish eye contact. I do find that other people don't feel so comfortable doing that. I was raised to look people in the eye when you speak with them.

...it is not so in every country. Some countries one is not expected to make eye contact with a leader senior
